Into the Fire by Jeaniene Frost Book Review

Fiery action-filled plot, but not enough love making

This is the forth book in the Night Prince series and surprisingly I didn't know that Vlad and Leila's story didn't end on the third book - I thought it was a trilogy. I was really excited to pick up the final book in the series and see how their story ends - Vlad has always been a favorite of mine (I love a fiery man).

However, I found that this good didn't grab me as much as Frost's other titles. This time around I found that Vlad's overprotectiveness was a tad too much. Instead of it coming off as protective and the usual Vlad sexiness - he came off as overbearing and insanely aggressive. I didn't find it an attractive quality this time around.

This story was great at showing how special Leila really is - she was an integral part of the plot and her powers are ultimately what saved the day. It was refreshing as always to read a story from Frost in which the female can save the day and while she is stronger with her true love - she can triumph on her own.

I think that's what makes Frost's stories stand out to me. She is able to write devilishly handsome and suave heroes (who just really know how to treat women and make them swoon), but also she never neglects the spunky heroines - they are always unique, strong, and smart! It makes for a wonderful story each time.

Into the Fire only lacked in the romance aspect. It had an interesting plot that carried on from the third book - but I just felt like there wasn't enough sensual tension or activity. When I pick up a Frost novel - I expect an action-packed plot, witty dialogue, and some breath-taking romance (and mind-blowing sex) - but in this novel the last point just wasn't as strong.

There really isn't much more to say on this novel as it was the fourth in the series and it was good, just not the top-notch quality I'm used to from Frost. That said, I do still enjoy the spin-off Vlad series, but this one is my least favorite from the bunch.
