Beautiful writing, fully formed and intriguing characters and a truly unique storyline makes the Raven Cycle one of the best YA series in my opinion.
I loved having the opportunity to get to know Ronan better. After reading the first book I was convinced I hated Ronan and I found every interaction with him irritating. However, that all changed reading this book. Readers got to know Ronan on a deeper level and he quickly became one of my favorite characters.
This book also features a lot more magic than the first one. *Spoiler* (Well kind of) Ronan can pull things from his dreams, so you guessed it - the majority of this book focuses on Ronan learned more about his special ability and the chaos that ensues from his use of it.
Also Cabeswater becomes more powerful and stands at the forefront of this story. After the shit that Adam pulled in the last book by sacrificing himself to Cabeswater (and seriously pissing off Gansey and the rest of the gang), we finally get to see more of what it means for Adam to be the hands and eyes of this magical forest.
Overall, I enjoyed this book even more than the first one and the character development only got better. We got to know the main characters on an even deeper level and they keep surprising us with their complexity.
I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys great descriptive storytelling!
