A Renaissance faire with a broody love interest wrapped in leather acting like a cheeky pirate - SIGN ME UP!

The overall concept of this book is what inspired me to pick it up...and I'm so glad that I did! I heard about this book on Twitter and usually I'm quite weary of random titles mentioned on social media, but the buzz around this book was quite loud. As I started reading, I understood the hype immediately - I finished this book in a day and a half. Just flew through it!

I absolutely adored the concept of this novel so much; Ren Faires, a hot man in leather pants acting like a pirate, and many many Shakespeare references...what’s not to love?! Again, I started out skeptical, the premise of this story sounded too perfect (and up my alley) to be true. But I was not disappointed!

Emily was an enjoyable MC to follow - it was even more exciting since she is a similar age to myself - so it was easy to image myself in her place at many points. Honestly, for a story with such a mundane setting (I am usually drawn to paranormal or sci-fi books because of the out-of-the-ordinary world) the story wasn't boring at all. Jen DeLuca knew how to keep the story fresh and moving along and I found myself not wanting the story to be over.

Simon was a fantastic love-interest/hero. I think many of us book lovers have a bit of a fantasy of ending up with a gorgeous intellectually stimulating man who can recite Shakespeare from memory. Plus Jen really must have been writing this novel just for me because she put Simon in eyeliner and I think my heart almost beat straight out of my chest!

I did however find myself annoyed at some of the characters at multiple times for the same damn thing - assuming. Lots of conflict in this book would be removed if the characters stopped assuming things and instead acted like adults and asked direct questions. But I guess the author needed something to move the plot forward and that's understandable. However by using a bit less assumptions in the future and it seems like a whole world of pain would be avoided.

Overall I thought this was a sweet and heartwarming story and one that I really wish was my reality! I want a Simon in my life - he is one swoon worthy main character.

A truly great story and will most definitely be picking up another title by this author as she seems to have some great ideas!
